Cancer doesn't stop for a pandemic. Loving Arms Cancer Outreach presents a "Facebook Live Event" benefiting cancer patients and survivors starring Jeff Pike, Lead Singer of A1A – The Official and Original Jimmy Buffett Tribute Show this Saturday, Sept. 19, from 7 pm to 8 pm. Sit back. Relax. Enjoy an evening of songs and survivor stories.
All proceeds raised from the evening go to Loving Arms Cancer Outreach, a non-profit that provides emotional and crisis financial assistance to cancer patients in our community.
"Loving Arms has continued to assist cancer patients during the pandemic even ramping up the assistance for food security. Because we need funds to continue our efforts, we were looking at ways to fundraise in a pandemic environment while being safe," said Shay Traylor, President and Cofounder.
Board Member Bill Branson came up with the idea of a living room concert. "It's a win-win situation. We can provide entertainment for people who are chomping at the bit for something different than what they have been doing in quarantine the last few months, as well as raising much needed funds for us to continue helping cancer patients financially," Traylor said.
"This fundraiser is very important to Loving Arms because this pandemic has caused a decrease in funds as well as changed the way non-profits raise money. We have had to cancel our biggest fundraisers because of COVID. So we need new and innovative ways to raise money," Traylor said.
The evening will be memorable as well as a way to support Loving Arms. Atlanta, Georgia native, Jeff Pike, has entertained all his life. An accomplished vocalist, guitarist, keyboardist, pianist, and songwriter, Pike has performed and recorded a variety of music.
As a singer/songwriter, he recorded eight CDs of original music. Pike has received nods in comparing him to modern-day recording artists such as Josh Groban and Jason Mraz and classic recording artists like Kenny Loggins, Dan Fogelberg, Jimmy Buffett, and Gino Vannelli, David Gates, and Karla Bonoff. His A1A remains the only Jimmy Buffett Tribute Show sanctioned by Jimmy Buffett himself. Jeff also plays the piano and annually tours the nation as 'Benny' in the American Cast of Abba Mania.
"If you are tired of the 'window to the wall to the refrigerator' routine COVID has forced us into, this will be a pleasant way to change things up. All while raising the funds we need," Traylor said.
Now more than ever because of COVID-19, Loving Arms need community support. "Families across the country are experiencing health emergencies and financial crisis, putting a heavy burden on already limited social services. Funding from this event will provide critical support to clients battling cancer in a global pandemic," Traylor said.
"Loving Arms has become a household name in the community by helping cancer patients, and now we need the community to help us continue our mission of helping others," Traylor said.
