Inspiration for an Exciting July 4th

We love the 4th of July because of the traditions—parades, concerts, fireworks, and more--that usually took place around the Marietta Square. This Independence Day, we look forward to celebrating in new style. We put our heads together and came up with some ideas for making America’s birthday festive.

Here are our thoughts:

Stage a neighborhood parade of your own.

Bake a patriotic dessert and take it to a police officer, fireman, or another first responder as a thank you.

Make your own White Water park at home.

Host a potluck barbecue (safely). You grill the ‘cue and let your friends bring the sides.

Churn some homemade ice cream.

Turner and Hattie

Watch a movie outside.

Light some kid-friendly sparklers--with adult supervision.

Shoot the Hooch! in a raft, canoe, kayak, tube, or stand up paddleboards on the Chattahoochee River. Reservations required. Visit https://shootthehooch.com/.

Explore Acworth Beach and recreation area in Cauble Park (north shore of Lake Acworth). http://www.acworth.com/attractions/acworth-beach/.

Are you doing something exciting or unique on July 4th? We would love to hear from you!
