Pandemic can’t put a hold on love: Couple celebrates twice

A pandemic cannot keep love apart, but it can put things temporarily on hold. Hannah Attaway and Kyle Phlegar planned a March 28 wedding at Grant Hill Farms in Commerce, GA. About that time, businesses shut down for COVID-19. Love saw this couple through, and they married at a private ceremony on March 28 at the Botanical Gardens in Athens, GA. The groom’s best man, Whit Barfield, who was ordained online, officiated the ceremony.

On July 5, as restrictions eased, the couple said their "I dos" again at the planned ceremony and reception at Grant Hill Farms. Everything put in place for March happened on July 5.

The lovely bride--beautiful inside and out--wore a spaghetti strap gown with a full skirt designed by Matthew Christopher. He also designed the matching veil.

Hannah found the gown at Bridals by Lori where Say Yes to the Dress is filmed. The day she went to the shop, the designer was holding a trunk show. He picked out the dress with Lori and assistant bridal manager/consultant, Flo Syttd in attendance. Though Hannah was not featured on TV, they staged a dramatic “Say Yes to the Dress” moment for her.

The four bridesmaids and two junior bridesmaids wore blush gowns. The beaming bride carried a bouquet of white roses, eucalyptus, and white peonies with navy blue centers. Handsome groomsmen wore navy blue suits with blush vests and ties.

Guests enjoyed a southern buffet of chicken, pasta, green beans, mac-n-cheese and salad.

Reception at Grant Hill Farms

The bride and groom grew up in Cobb County and attended Harrison High School where they began dating in their junior year. They dated through high school and college. Both graduated from University of GA in December 2019.

The couple honeymooned in FL and will take their planned honeymoon, a cruise to the Bahamas, at a later date. They are at home in Athens, GA.

Hannah is the daughter of Jennifer and Dennis Attaway. Kyle is the son of Raelyn and Andy Phlegar. All of Kennesaw.
